President Obama’s Jobs Record (shared from WhiteHouse.gov)

Once again, charts are powerful. I just wish Democrats would figure this out in time for the next election. All I see of them is Harry Reid peaking out from behind the chamber doors long enough to speak for 30 minutes, make no point, and then retreat back into the Senate cave. Please Dems… When you’re being out-marketed with stupid catch phrase or words – there’s no shame in resorting to simple pictures. Seriously, it works.

George Washington’s Farewell Address to the People of the United States of America

There’s so much noise from so many different perspectives and voices today, that I imagine it’s difficult for most people to filter everything. It’s probably easier to just pick a “side” and just tune out any noise we don’t want to hear. This however tends to create barriers and walls between us. We are a Union of many different peoples, with many opinions. Is there any voice today that might help Americans to remember how truly connected we are to each other? read more…

Why Solyndra should be every American’s concern… not just another blame game.

There’s a story today on Huffington Post about the Solyndra solar company bankruptcy, which focuses on the increasing attempts by both left and right to blame each other for that company’s failure. Democrats can now point to the fact that Solyndra was chosen for loan consideration by President Bush’s team and his Energy Policy Act of 2005. Republicans of course are looking to pin the failure squarely on President Obama, because it went bankrupt this year. read more…

Tuesday, September 11th, 2001

On September 11th, and in the days and weeks that followed, I tried to write about what I was feeling. You’ll find copied below the complete text of the journal I kept online at my original website, mostly hidden from the public view. My writing just kind of dropped off after a few weeks, mostly out of disappointment that many of my predictions had come true, and also that I knew we were probably in for a long, drawn out war on terror. It’s been 10 years since that day. It’s important to remember. We must never forget. read more…

The "2nd Amendment Remedy"

We’re getting closer to the next election cycle, and if recent weeks – and the last election – are any indication of the tone of coming debates and “civil discourse,” then we had better prepare ourselves for more of the same over-the-top, vitriolic, disgusting and vile (and paid marketing) propaganda which is all really just an attempt by losers to rig the game in their favor, to distract enough Americans from the real issues, and do it primarily by getting them angry and afraid of something. read more…

I couldn’t have said it better….

In this Daily News article, Michael Cohen rightly points out that the debate between spending and tax priorities has always existed, but that the methods of trying to win the debate today represent ‘a fundamental breakdown of our national politics and the entering of a dangerous new phase in which extreme political brinkmanship risks becoming an accepted means of forcing policy changes.read more…

The world won’t wait for America to default…

Here some anecdotal, personal references, which speak to the dire consequences we are likely to face if America defaults on its debt — or even if the world believes our political system is so broken as to even risk it: read more…

Sarah Palin and her rightwing friends just don’t get it

This week, Sarah Palin tours the old country in a bus covered in graphics that say “One Nation” and “We The People.” That makes for impressive visuals, but is one of the clearest demonstrations of right wing hypocrisy I’ve seen in a long time. read more…
